A free desktop tool for procedural character generation and creative worldbuilding.

CharacterForge started as a system I was building for one of my own game projects.

I wanted a way to experiment with characters without losing the ones I liked every time I pressed the randomize button.

That gradually turned into a standalone application built around deterministic generation, editable traits, and reproducible seeds.

What can you do with it?

• Generate characters using presets and procedural variation.
• Recreate generated results using deterministic seeds.
• Lock individual traits while experimenting with others.
• Explore characters through the ForgeDNA system.
• Use the tool as a starting point for games, stories, tabletop campaigns, and worldbuilding projects.

Free Core & optional expansions

The core application is free to download and use.

There are also optional expansion packs available for additional creative tools and content, including quests, creatures, items, factions, and locations.

Expansion purchases and license activation are handled through the official CharacterForge website.

You do not need to purchase an expansion to try the core application.

About the project

I'm an independent developer working on CharacterForge alongside other software and creative projects at ROOKWELD.

It's an evolving project, and I'm interested in hearing how people use it, what works well, and what could be improved.
